Rea, MSPH, RAC - Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Ronald A. Martell Chief Executive Officer Ronald A. Martell is Chief Executive Officer of Poniard. Prior to his current role, Mr. Martell served as president and chief operating officer of Poniard since 2007 and joined the Board of Directors in June 2006. He recently served as senior vice president of Commercial Operations at ImClone Systems Incorporated and member of ImClone Systems' management committee. In that position, he oversaw sales, marketing, and project and alliance management. He also guided corporate, strategic and portfolio planning and management for the Company. He built ImClone Systems' Commercial Operations and field sales force to market and commercialize Erbitux® for the treatment of certain patients with colorectal and head and neck cancers with partners Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck KGaA. Prior to joining ImClone Systems, Mr. Martell worked for 10 years at Genentech in a variety of positions, most recently as manager, oncology products. At Genentech, he was responsible for marketing Herceptin® for metastatic HER-2 positive breast cancer and Rituxan® for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Mike Perry President and Chief Medical Officer Michael S. Perry, DVM, PhD, FRCVS is President and Chief Medical Officer of Poniard Pharmaceuticals and a Venture Partner with Bay City Capital, LLC. Dr. Perry was previously the Chief Development Officer at VIA Pharmaceuticals (VIAP) and the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Extropy Pharmaceuticals. He was also Chief Executive Officer of Pharsight (PHST), SyStemix, and Genetic Therapy, and served as a director on each of the companies’ boards. Prior to these positions, Dr. Perry was Global Head of R&D for Baxter BioScience, Vice President of Novartis Pharma and Vice President of Syntex Corporation. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Targeted Genetics (TGEN). Dr. Perry holds an Honors BSc in Engineering/Physics from the University of Guelph, a DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College, and a PhD in Biomedical Pharmacology from the University of Guelph. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and a graduate of The Executive/International Management Program at Harvard Business School. Greg Weaver Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President Mr. Weaver was appointed CFO of Poniard in February 2009. Mr. Weaver brings to Poniard more than 17 years of experience in executive financial management, and has served as CFO of both public and private biotech and healthcare companies since 1996. Most recently, Mr. Weaver served as CFO of Talyst Inc., a pharmacy automation healthcare IT company from 2007 to December 2008. During 2006 he served as senior vice president and CFO of Sirna Therapeutics, an RNAI therapeutics company, until the sale of that company to Merck, Inc. From 2002 to 2005, he was CFO of Nastech Pharmaceuticals, a drug delivery company. From 1999 to 2002, he was CFO of Ilex Oncology, Inc., an oncology drug development company, and from 1996 to 1998, he was CFO of Prism Technologies, a medical device company. In addition, Mr. Weaver held increasingly senior positions with Fidelity Capital in Boston and Arthur Andersen LLP. He has served as director and chairman of the audit committee for Celsion Corp., an oncology drug development company, since 2005. Mr. Weaver is a certified public accountant and received his M.B.A in finance from Boston College and his B.S. in accounting from Trinity University. Cheni Kwok, Ph.D., CLP Senior Vice President, Corporate Development Dr. Kwok joined the Company in July 2006 from Celera Genomics, where she was the director of business development and led the business development efforts for Celera's small molecule therapeutic programs. Prior to Celera, Dr. Kwok was associate director of business development for Exelixis Inc., where she initiated multiple partnerships and served as the alliance manager for the GlaxoSmithKline collaboration. Prior to joining Exelixis Inc., Dr. Kwok held various research management, technology assessment and alliance management roles at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals. She received a bachelor's degree in biotechnology from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London, U.K. and a Ph.D. in human molecular genetics from the University of Cambridge, U.K. Dr. Kwok obtained the Certified Licensing Professional (CLPTM) credential established by the Licensing Executive Society (USA and Canada). Anna Lewak Wight, J.D., CLP Vice President, Legal Anna Lewak Wight joined the Company in 1994. Previously, she was a partner in the law firm of Morrison & Foerster, managing its Seattle intellectual property practice. Ms. Wight was also a partner in the intellectual property law firm of Harness, Dickey and Pierce in Michigan, where she established and chaired the Biotechnology and Medical Arts Group. She has worked with many high-profile biotechnical and biomedical projects for academic and research institutions, including gene therapy for cystic fibrosis and neurofibromatosis and CD28 immunoregulation. Ms. Wight received a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and an M.S. from the Genetics Program at Michigan State University. Janet R. Rea, MSPH, RAC Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Janet R. Rea joined the Company in 2008. Previously, she served as vice president, regulatory affairs and quality at AVI BioPharma. Ms. Rea previously held positions at Targeted Genetics, MDS BioPharma, Immunex (now Amgen) and American Hospital Supply (now Baxter). In addition, Ms. Rea ran her own consulting practice. She has nearly 30 years of ethical drug and biologics industry experience in regulatory affairs, quality assurance, quality control, product development and commercialization. Ms. Rea received both her BS in microbiology and her MSPH from the University of Washington, and in 2006, received her RAC from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society.
